Presleys-Doinker Shootout:
In addition to the Midwest Open, another separate event was held after the 2; 00PM shooting line was completed on Sunday. The event is sponsored by Doinker Stabilizers and is called the “Presleys-Doinker Shootout.”  The top 30 finishers in the Championship (money) Division and the two top finishers (one male and one female) in the Trophy Division qualified to compete in this non-seeded random draw, head to head match competition.  Each match consisted of 3-arrows shot on the Vegas target from a distance of 20 yards (Cub shot at 10 yards, maximum distance for that age group).  Scoring was 11-points for the inner “X”, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6.  The lowest scorer for each match was eliminated and the winner advanced to the next round.  In the event of a tie for a match, then each shooter shot one arrow.  The closest to center was the winner; if both shooters shot an “inside-out” (not touching the line) 11, then each shooter shot another arrow until the closest to center was determined.
This “closest to center” determination came to play in the Final Match between Darrin Christenberry (IN) and Bridger Deaton (IA) who each won 4 matches to advance to the Finals.  Both shooters shot 32’s on their first three arrows (11-11-10).  Then, each shooter shot an “11’ on their first extra arrow, shot yet another “11” on their second extra arrow, and finally, Bridger Deaton was the winner by shooting an “11” on the third tie-breaker arrow to Darrin’s “10”.  Bridger won the match with a “65’ to Darrin’s “64.”  Bridger won a check for $500 and a Gift Certificate worth up to $600 for a custom set of Doinker Stabilizers.

The complete bracket and match totals for each competing archer can be found here.

In addition, there will be an article written by local author Tom Dorigatti, published in the January-February, 2014 edition of US & International Archer Magazine.

2014 Presleys Midwest Open:

Plans are underway for the 2014 Presleys Midwest Open. The tentative dates for the 2014 Midwest Open are Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6, 2014. Details will be forthcoming in the near future.
Presleys Outdoors wishes to sincerely thank all the participants, the Tournament Committee who gave up their time to run the tournament, and all the sponsors who contributed money towards the Money Purse and also contributed Door Prizes for the Saturday evening Door Prizes drawings.  Without the kindness and efforts of those people, vendors, and manufacturers, this tournament would not be possible.
